Covid-19 and its associated lockdown has had a devastating effect on the entire travel industry, with our customers unable to or simply not willing to travel. The industry is fighting for survival. We are all hoping to reach better times when we can commence along the road to recovery. How soon the recovery will arrive and how early we will be able to get back to normality are unknowns. For now, we have been putting business survival strategies in place but we also need to start planning for when we can move beyond the current crisis.

For TTI’s Summer Forum, we have assembled a team of experts across a variety of different disciplines. The aim is to provide you with some guidance and inspiration that can contribute to business survival and help you look beyond the current period to how you might start ramping up your business as better times begin to beckon.

Flipping the Narrative: Composing Tomorrow’s Destination Strategy

This Webinar we took from “Bright Talk”.
Interesting for Destination Marketing Organisations and Destination Management Companies.
Speakers: Jason Hunter, Alban Eral, Ian Rolle

The Blue Ocean Strategy is a marketing theory and the title of a book published in 2004 written by W. Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne, professors at INSEAD. They assert that these strategic moves create a leap in value for the company, its buyers, and its employees while unlocking new demand and making the competition irrelevant. The book presents analytical frameworks and tools to foster an organization’s ability to systematically create and capture “blue oceans”- unexplored new market areas. Expanded editions of the book were published in 2015 and 2017 .

If there is one word that describes travel, it is freedom. This story changed with the global quarantine. Control and constraint has defined our lives for the past three months. How can we move from being put into a corner to turning a new corner in strategic insight in travel?
In this panel discussion we will reflect on how Blue Ocean Strategy was and is used to create innovative travel & tourism offerings and explore how to apply these proven and practical frameworks and methodologies to create the next generation of travel.

Technology Opportunities for Travel and Tourism in a Post-Viral World

This Webinar we took from “Bright Talk”.
Speakers: Joel Brandon-Bravo, Jean-Noel Lau Keng Lun and Robert Gray
Moderator: Paul Richer from Genesys who also serves as a member of our
Business Advisory Board

One thing is for sure, no one is thinking that the world will return to how it was pre- the Coronavirus pandemic. There will be a ‘new-normal’. We don’t yet know what form this will take but with ongoing social distancing and many people having lost their jobs, travel and tourism will suffer at least as much as any other industry. There will be a significant reduction in the number of people who are prepared to or can afford to travel. Thus, it will be vital for travel and tourism players to harness latest developments in technology to both operate at maximum efficiency and attract those customers that are willing and able to travel. Next generation technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Chatbots, Voice Search and the Internet of Things will all have a role to play.
